Maintenance Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, excellent driving record, and must be able to pass a background check clear of criminal history are required.
  • Training and at least three years of experience in one or more given trades such as heating/air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
  • Must possess an extensive knowledge of building maintenance and systems, including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and related systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills necessary to coordinate, direct, coach, and hold the maintenance team accountable for performance, safety, and service excellence.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive physical tasks, including hands-on repair work as required.
  • An ability to effectively communicate and work collaboratively across departments is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Currently hold or be qualified to test for the unlimited electrical journeyman’s license or contractor’s license.
  • Five years of maintenance experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

JOB SUMMARYThe Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance of Meridian Technology Center (MTC) district buildings and infrastructure and for the direct supervision of maintenance staff. Leads day-to-day maintenance operations while maintaining positive, professional relationships with all staff. Works closely with custodial, grounds, information systems, and transportation teams to ensure a safe, efficient, and welcoming campus environment. Communicates proactively to support organizational goals and service excellence.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

1.                  Daily Mechanical Inspections: Conduct daily inspection, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, heating, and cooling systems, including lights, receptacles, pumps, motors, and related equipment.

 

2.                  Preventive and Weekly Inspections: Perform weekly inspections of campus buildings for structural issues, roof leaks, and other facility concerns. Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment, including heating and cooling systems, rooftop fans, and other critical systems.

 

3.                  Records, Safety, and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all equipment, inspections, and maintenance activities. Ensure timely reporting of safety incidents, equipment failures, and facility concerns in accordance with district procedures. Maintain life safety systems, including fire alarms and suppression systems, and develop effective working relationships with vendors. Support compliance with AHERA (Asbestos) requirements, EPA regulations, and applicable building codes. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and proactive risk management. Utilize district systems and standard office software to maintain records, reports, and documentation.

 

4.                  Coordination, Planning, and Resource Management: Coordinate maintenance activities with the Executive Director, Planning and Operations, and support short- and long-range facility planning. Oversee repair work and respond to facility emergencies outside normal work hours, exercising sound judgment to ensure safety, efficiency, and continuity of operations. Manage vendors and contractors to maintain quality, safety, and compliance. Complete financial processes, including obtaining quotes, requisitioning supplies and equipment, and ensuring responsible budget management and resource stewardship.

 

5.                  Staff Development and Training: Supervise and lead the maintenance staff including the hiring, coaching, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations. Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism. Reinforce safe work practices, ethical behavior, and strong work habits through coaching, modeling, and feedback. Provide workshops, training sessions, and ongoing instruction to ensure the proper use of equipment, chemicals, and procedures, and to promote proactive identification and mitigation of safety risks. Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations in alignment with district guidelines.

 

6.                  Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in maintenance processes, safety practices, and facility operations, and implement effective solutions collaboratively.

 

7.                  Compliance: Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the MTC Board of Education.

 

8.                  Organizational Advocacy: Act as a positive advocate for MTC by demonstrating pride in the organization as a place to work and learn, and by speaking positively about programs, staff, and the learning environment in all interactions.

 

9.                  Other Duties: Complete other duties and projects as assigned by the Superintendent or Executive Director of Planning and Operations.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 

Must be able to traverse district facilities and property to diagnose maintenance issues, plan repairs, or perform hands-on maintenance duties.

Work Hours

Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Must be willing to accept flexible work hours or work an alternative schedule when necessary to respond to facility emergencies outside of normal work hours and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of students, staff, and district property.

Contract Length

12-month position

 

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Maintenance Supervisor will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities to determine satisfactory compliance. These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.

 

LOCATION

Main Campus, Stillwater, OK

The primary work location is the Main Campus in Stillwater, OK, with responsibility to perform work at local learning sites and campuses within MTC’s district as needed.
